Audit
Purpose: Committee assists the Board of Directors - through the Finance Committee - in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities with respect to the audit of CRSI’s books and records, and the system of internal controls that CRSI has established.
Bar Supports
Purpose: To develop recommendations for the use of bar supports and recommend industry practice for dissemination.
(CRSI) Board of Directors
Purpose: To set corporate policy as needed.
Design Aids and Codes
Purpose: To provide a forum for the development and maintenance of the CRSI Design Handbook, new technical publications, technical papers, computer programs, engineering data reports and structural bulletins.
Durability
Purpose: Committee responsible for the durability of steel reinforced concrete structures. Also responsible for technical issues related to epoxy coatings, galvanized reinforcement, stainless steel reinforcement, or other corrosion mitigating technology for steel reinforcement. This committee has subcommittees for the various corrosion mitigating technologies.
Education
Purpose: To provide guidance in the development of educational activities and materials.
Engineering Practice
Purpose: To approve all CRSI technical material; to maintain liaison with other technical associations; to approve and review technical initiatives and recommend to the Board of Directors the allocation of funds for such purposes. The Engineering Practice Committee has the following Task Groups: Building Codes, Material Properties, and Placing Drawings.
Epoxy Coating Plant Certification
Purpose: A forum for the ongoing maintenance and development of the Voluntary Plant Certification Program.
Epoxy Coating Technical
Purpose: To provide a technical forum and advisement on matters related to epoxy coated steel reinforcement.
Executive
Purpose: To act on behalf of the Board of Directors as needed.
Finance
Purpose: Committee reviews and maintains the financial needs of the Institute, and makes recommendations on ways and means to obtain the necessary revenue.
Board of Directors for the CRSI Education and Research and Foundation
Purpose: Committee reviews and maintains the financial needs of the Institute, and makes recommendations on ways and means to obtain the necessary revenue.
Manual of Standard Practice
Purpose: To develop and maintain the Manual of Standard Practice, as well as recommend industry practices for dissemination.
Marketing
Purpose: This committee plans and conducts the marketing and promotional activities for the Institute, which includes national programs, as well as regional and local market programs, to maintain and increase the use of steel reinforced concrete construction in the buildings, bridges and pavement markets.
Material Properties
Purpose: Committee responsible for monitoring the chemistry, materials, and manufacturing issues related to the production of reinforcing bars. Appropriate task groups / subcommittees will be formed to address such items as high strength steel, bar coding standards, etc. Also responsible for serving as a liaison with: • ASTM A01.05 Subcommittee • AWS Committee D1
Membership & Member Services
Purpose: This committee oversees all activities related to service and programs for the CRSI membership, including the programs relating to fabricator shop management, industry surveys, shop safety, personnel and training aids, and other activities to help in member company management. This committee also monitors the recruitment of prospective CRSI members.
Placing Reinforcing Bars
Purpose: To develop and maintain the publication Placing Reinforcing Bars, and training aids for ironworkers as needed. Also advise the Engineering Practice Committee regarding practice for safety and economy in erection of reinforcing steel.
Region Affairs
Purpose: Committee determines appropriate governance structures and guidelines for the conduct of business in the CRSI Regions, and provides a forumfor region leadership to develop consensus on best practices in regional promotion and member services. It also provides a forum for providing input and establishing priorities to the CRSI Board and national staff for products and services that will best help regions meet their promotion and member services goals.
Reinforcement Anchorages and Splices
Purpose: To develop and maintain the publication Reinforcement Anchorages and Splices and recommend industry practices for dissemination.
Reinforcing Bar Detailing
Purpose: To develop and maintain the publication Reinforcing Bar Detailing and the Reinforcing Bar Detailer Training Program, and recommend industry practices for dissemination.
Research and Development
Purpose: Committee responsible for the CRSI industry sponsored research program. Committee solicits research fellowships from academic institutions and selects research projects on an annual basis. Topics are envisioned to encompass structural, material, durability, steel chemistry, or pavement research. Committee also responsible for potential at-large or specially funded research to address immediate or hot-topic issues impacting the industry.
Sustainability
Purpose: To develop and maintain CRSI's position on the sustainability issue, including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) initiatives.
Transportation
Purpose: To determine the policies, strategies, and technical direction of all transportation-related issues for the CRSI Board. It also provides guidance to the Regional Managers and member companies on specifics for legislative outreach as well as guidance on key issues related to bridges, structures, pavements, and other related products. As a sub-committee of the Marketing Committee, it also identifies market size, share, and positioning of various products within the transportation industry and develops strategies to grow and/or protect that share. It works closely with CRSI technical committees to assure proper interpretation and execution of policies and strategies, the development of key manuals, guidelines, specifications, technical briefs, and other similar documents.
